AUBÉ-KUBEL SUSPENDED: On Nov. 11, Washington Capitals forward Nicolas Aubé-Kubel got a match penalty when he hit Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Cal Foote during the second period of the game. The NHL Department of Player Safety announced that Aubé-Kubel was suspended for three games for an illegal check to the head.
COLEMAN FINED: Calgary Flames forward Blake Coleman received a $5,000 fine for slew-footing Winnipeg Jets center Pierre-Luc Dubois on Nov. 12. Under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, it was the maximum fine allowable, with the money going to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
LUONGO THE FORWARD?: Incoming Hall of Fame inductee Roberto Luongo suited up for the annual Hockey Hall of Fame Legends Classic in Toronto on Sunday but not as a goaltender. Playing forward, Luongo stunned former teammates and contemporaries, scoring two highlight-reel goals and winning a faceoff against long-time teammate and fellow inductee Henrik Sedin.
INJURY UPDATE: Thomas Chabot is week-to-week for the Ottawa Senators with a concussion after taking a hit from behind by Travis Konecny in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. Also hurt in their win on Saturday was Los Angeles Kings forward Brendan Lemieux. Lemieux suffered a lower-body injury while delivering a hit on Adam Erne against the Detroit Red Wings.
DOING IT ALL: As if making 37 saves in a 5-2 victory wasn't enough, Iowa Wild netminder Jesper Wallstedt scored on the Chicago Wolves' empty net to secure his first AHL win on Saturday. It was the first goalie goal recorded in the Minnesota affiliate's history.
WORLD CUP 2025?: After discussions and planning over the past year, the NHL and NHL Players' Association determined on Friday that the World Cup of Hockey will not take place in Feb. 2024. Last held in 2016, the World Cup of Hockey also hosted tournaments in 1996 and 2004. Here's to hoping it will happen

Beyond being Swedish, the trio of inductees (who will be enshrined tonight along with Roberto Luongo,
, and builder Herb Carnegie) shares the distinction of being part of the loaded, gold medal-winning "Tre Kronor" at the 2006 Olympic Games in Torino, Italy. This Hall of Fame class gives us an excuse to look at how stacked that star-laden group was.
Already in the Hall
Fittingly, a trio of stars that had already achieved iconic status in their home country anchored that 2006 Swedish team. Nicklas Lidström, Mats Sundin, and Peter Forsberg, all well into their mid-30s at that time, formed the leadership core and weren’t too bad on the ice, either. Lidström was named to the tournament All-Star team with six points in eight games from the back end, Sundin tallied eight points, and Forsberg recorded six in six games. Entering the Hall
With all that talent donning yellow and blue in '06, Alfredsson stood out as the team's leading scorer with five goals and five assists. Centering
and Sami PĂĄhlsson on the third line, Alfie was instrumental in balancing out the scoring output. One line below him, the fresh-faced Sedin twins barely got a taste of Olympic play. Still, Henrik delivered three goals and an assist in limited duty, while Daniel unsurprisingly mirrored him with a goal and three helpers.
Getting the Hall Call Soon?
There’s a real possibility that
first-year candidates Henrik Lundqvist and Henrik Zetterberg, who came up short this year. The two Henriks would represent an apt next wave of Swedish hockey greatness to be enshrined. Lundqvist—the youngest member on the team—went 5-1 as the primary netminder, commanding the crease throughout the elimination round. Zetterberg, meanwhile, chipped in with three goals and three assists, including the game-winner in the quarterfinal against Switzerland.

Max Pacioretty - Anthony Cirelli - Valeri Nichushkin
LW - Pacioretty, CAR: This is your friendly reminder that the 33-year-old is, in fact, a member of the Carolina Hurricanes. On July 13, 2022, the Vegas Golden Knights traded Pacioretty and Dylan Coghlan to Carolina for future considerations. Less than a month later, the club announced that the winger needed surgery to repair a torn Achilles and should make his Hurricanes debut sometime in February.
C - Cirelli, TBL: After the two-time Stanley Cup champion suffered an AC joint sprain during the playoffs, the Tampa Bay Lightning announced that the forward needed shoulder surgery. Cirelli had the surgery on July 5 and missed the start of the season with a 4-6 month recovery time. Currently sixth in the Atlantic Division, Tampa needs the 25-year-old back sooner rather than later.

RW - Nichushkin, COL: Unlike his two linemates mentioned above, the Avalanche forward made his 2022-23 season debut, as Nichushkin's last game was on Oct. 25. However, it wasn't until Nov. 8 that Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar said the forward would require surgery on his ankle. Colorado is also without captain Gabriel Landeskog and defenseman Bowen Byram.
Zach Werenski - Seth Jones
LD - Werenski, CBJ: Remember when Columbus Blue Jackets fans were at their highest high, thinking they would be a competitive playoff team? Good times. On Nov. 11, the club announced that Zach Werenski would be out for the season with a shoulder injury. With a record of 4-9-1, they look like a top option for landing Connor Bedard.
RD - Jones, CHI: Jones is currently off the ice with a right thumb injury that occurred when the Chicago Blackhawks played the Buffalo Sabres on Oct. 29. It's a significant blow to the club as he averaged 25:14 of ice time per game, leading all skaters. The good news is that younger brother Caleb seems to be holding the line while his brother recovers.

Matt Murray
G - Murray, TOR: Oh, Toronto. Over the summer, the club brought in goaltenders Matt Murray and Ilya Samsonov, and both are dealing with injuries. Matt Murray is out with a groin injury, while his teammate is on the sidelines with a knee injury. Can it get better for the Maple Leafs? Sure. Can it get worse? Absolutely.
Dynamic Duo Jerseys
Kyle Keefe, a studio anchor for the Colorado Avalanche, posted on Twitter that he got his daughter Quincy a "Makardeskog" Avalanche jersey because she is fond of both Cale Makar and Gabriel Landeskog (can't blame her!). Instead of the hard decision to pick one or the other, he elected to combine them. With this unique gift, we thought we would invent some other NHL jerseys combining some dynamic duos around the league, not named Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl or Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.
Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield have Montreal Canadiens fans excited about the franchise's future. Suzuki (19 points) and Caufield (16 points) are now the team's leading scorers on the top line. With Suzuki being 23 years old and Caufield 21, they'll be cornerstones of the Habs for the next decade, and fans would likely jump at the chance to represent a "Cauzuki" jersey at the Bell Centre!
Marinthaler
New Jersey is on a roll with a nine-game win streak, mainly due to the Devils' iron-clad defense, which is the fifth-best in the NHL. Jonas Siegenthaler and John Marino are helping to lead the charge. Although they are not on the same pairing, they have the best plus/minus stats on the blue line, with Siegenthaler at plus-13 and Marino sporting a plus-8. New Jersey will look to them to continue their strong defensive efforts, and Devils fans love having the "Marinthaler" connection as part of their core.
Dahlson
As the Buffalo Sabres continue their quest to make the playoffs for the first time in 12 seasons, there isn't anyone more critical to the team than Tage Thompson and Rasmus Dahlin. Thompson is top-10 in the NHL in points with 19, while Dahlin is one of the league's best offensive defensemen, leading Buffalo with a plus-9 and currently second-best with 17 points. With talents like that on offense and defense, Sabres fans can cheer for both with a "Dahlson" jersey!
