BLACKWOOD OUT WITH KNEE INJURY: New Jersey is facing a little adversity after its hot start. Head coach Lindy Ruff confirmed that goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood has a sprained MCL. Blackwood's injury occurred in the second period of the Devils' game against the Edmonton Oilers on Nov. 3.

THE DREADED VOTE OF CONFIDENCE: Amidst a string of five losses in a row and a disappointing 4-7 record following a thrilling offseason, Ottawa Senators GM Pierre Dorion came out on Monday offering support for embattled head coach D.J. Smith. While strangely speaking in the third person, Dorion said, "Pierre Dorion is very loyal. D.J. has done a good job and he's shown that he can win. D.J. is our coach, and he's going to be our coach."

SINGING THE BLUES: Boston handed St. Louis its seventh straight loss on Monday, defeating the Blues 3-1 to remain perfect at home. Patrice Bergeron scored his 311th power-play point to pass Bobby Orr for fourth on the Bruins' all-time list with his eventual game-winning goal in the third period.

MARRING McDAVID'S MILESTONE: Playing in his 500th game, Connor McDavid had a goal and an assist to record his 221st multi-point night and tie Orr for fourth-most assists (472) through 500 games. However, penalties against the Oilers led to four power-play goals for the Washington Capitals, ending their four-game skid with a 5-4 victory.

FLUTTERING FLAMES: New York scored three unanswered goals as the Islanders rallied to defeat the Calgary Flames 4-3 in overtime. It was the Flames' fifth straight loss (0-3-2), who gave up two scores in 59 seconds to allow the Islanders to tie the game.

'Fun to Watch' Rankings: Eastern Conference

We'll admit it, at this point in the season, we've watched our fair share of hockey. While it isn't quite at playoff levels in terms of taking over our lives, there always seems to be a player to see in new surroundings, a juicy storyline to follow, or another chapter of a rivalry to be witnessed. Oh, and it's also kind of our job.

Within all that hockey, some teams have entertained us while others have left us a little underwhelmed. It isn't necessarily a reflection of their abilities to win but rather how exciting their brand of hockey is. With the Western Conference coming tomorrow, we present the East's top-five "Fun to Watch" teams.

5) Montreal Canadiens

Montreal is young, inexperienced, and sure to have some rough nights. So far, the Canadiens have also been a surprisingly fun team to watch as they try to figure out how to play at the NHL level on the fly. Head coach Martin St. Louis is leaning into his youth, benching vets like Jonathan Drouin and Evgenii Dadonov. Meanwhile, Habs fans have had the opportunity to get intrigued by Juraj Slafkovský, enthralled by Cole Caufield, and work on their pronunciation of Arber Xhekaj.

4) New York Rangers

Igor Shesterkin hasn't discovered last year's Vezina-winning form, but that hasn't stopped all the dynamic players in front of him. Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad continue to produce on arguably one of the league's top lines. At the same time, Adam Fox would be the offensive defenseman everyone talks about were it not for Cale Makar. There's also Chris Kreider, who has carried his play over from last year's 52-goal breakthrough.

3) Buffalo Sabres

Does any team have as impressive a collection of young talent as Buffalo right now? That may not lead to immediate success, but there certainly will be some fun nights at KeyBank Center, watching the likes of Rasmus Dahlin, Dylan Cozens, Owen Power, Alex Tuch, Jack Quinn, and JJ Peterka. And you never know when Tage Thompson, a relative veteran presence at 25, might go off for six points again.

2) Toronto Maple Leafs

We know all about the high-end skill that the Toronto Maple Leafs bring to the table in the form of players like Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and William Nylander. So far this season, however, the fun has come from the club's drama and unpredictability. Just 14 games in, we've seen two goalies get injured and hot-seat speculation heating up around Sheldon Keefe. It also doesn't get more unpredictable than losing to Montreal, Arizona, San Jose, and Anaheim while beating Dallas, Winnipeg, Boston, and Carolina.

1) New Jersey Devils

These aren't your father's trap-happy New Jersey Devils! The surprising Devils rank among the most productive offenses across the league. First-overall selections Nico Hischier and Jack Hughes appear to have the first- and second-line center positions on lock for years to come, thanks to some creative, inspired play down the middle. Meanwhile, Jesper Bratt has found himself in the mix among the league's top scorers, and Ondřej Palát looked like a power play force before suffering an unfortunate groin injury that required surgery.
